Bleaching

Having a beautiful smile may be even easier than you think. Many people achieve a much brighter tooth color with our simple "bleaching" procedure.

before
after

It's safe, quick, and inexpensive. Just let us know at any appointment if you would like to begin bleaching. You can lighten only your upper teeth or both the upper and lower, depending on how much of each shows when you talk and smile.

In only a day or two your custom bleaching splints will be ready for you to pick up. They are clear plastic forms that fit over and cover your teeth We provide you with a special bleaching agent that you put into the clear, almost invisible splint. Wearing the bleaching splint a couple of hours a day over a week and a half brightens the enamel significantly without harming tooth structure or existing dental work. After your teeth reach their natural brightness, from time to time you will occasionally want to do a few hours of “touch up” treatments to maintain your new smile.

Dental bleaching can be used to correct many tooth discolorations. These discolorations may have been caused by staining, aging, or chemical damage to teeth. Using the latest in bleaching technology, we can offer a safe method for creating a beautiful, bright smile. In cases of extreme tooth discoloration, crowns or veneers may be the only choice. But because of the low cost of bleaching treatments, bleaching is nearly always worth a solid try.

Key Benefits

  • Corrects brown, yellow and mottled tooth staining
  • Works on people of all ages.
  • Is a wonderful solution for a "dull" smile, restoring brightness and aliveness.

How is it done?

An impression is taken of your teeth to make a specialized tray that fits over them and holds the bleach against them. The material should be applied for about 2 hours a day for a week or two, after which significant whitening will occur. In most cases, the change begins to take place within a couple of days. For confidence in appearance, bleaching technology offers improvements in yellowing, aging or stained teeth. For very severely stained teeth, crowns or veneers may be more appropriate.

Considerations

Over-the-counter bleaching agents are available at drug stores and pharmacies. However, we have found inconsistant results with the use of these products. Also, because all the bleaching products have the ability to cause sensitivity to the gums and teeth, we feel that it is better to use the recommended products under professional supervision.
